The Young Dragon displays characteristics not found in the common Dragon fish varieties. It has an axanthic black pigmentation along the whole length of its body, extended to the tip of its caudal fin. Another feature is the blackish highlighting the brownish ellipse of the eye. The dorsal, caudal and anal fins also display a mixture of two colours, with a hint of red and purple.
